Becoming something your not

Becoming something your not is branch i'm taking from my base theme confusion. This photograph is taken of a building in the Albert docks in Liverpool. The building was designed to look like a ship sailing out onto the river mersey. Even though we know its a building and can't move the shapes give us the illusion it is coming towards us. I am using the idea to create illusions in garments, and experiment with 3D illusions on the bodice. Stella McCartney designed a collection based on optical illusions, making women appear slimmer than thy are. The garments have merely got different colour panels alongside the body, to illumite the shape of the desired body shape. These dresses trick the eye, as does the building.
