I had problems with the waist fitting the size 12 mannequin, even though my dress was based on fitting a size 12 mannequin. To over come this problem i pinned it against the mannequin and measured how much i needed to close the seam by. I took 3cm's from the font and back seam and the garment fitted perfect.
